PBS Documentary Hits the Ice
DECEMBER 2011 | Canada's identity defined by a game. A game that so many of us live and breathe alongside our families and communities. A game that inspires hopes and dreams.
The game of hockey means something special to Canadian's coast to coast.
This is the theme of a new one-hour TV documentary co-produced by The Shooting Eye for WNED-PBS that premieres December 1, 2011 at 8pm. Nearly two years in the making, Hockey: More Than A Game takes viewers into communities across the country where it seeks to reveal how Canada has been shaped by the game of hockey. It touches on the game's history, from its origins on Long Pond in Windsor, Nova Scotia, to the recent excitement of the 2010 Olympics.

Festival Winner
JUNE 2011 | Team Shooting Eye took the 24-hour filmmaking challenge for the third year in a row at the Hamilton24. And in turn took its second win for the short film, Axiom.
Conception to delivery all happened within a 24 hour time frame on June 3/4. There were three parameters that had to be included: A prop (an abnormally large paper airplane), a location (in a reflection), and a line of dialogue ("Bring the dog, I love animals. I'm a great cook.").
The result... a mysterious little film that was a total collaboration of the group including Jeremy Major, Aaron Lam, Matthew David Lupal, Christena Hampson-Covello, Nicolette Paradela, Crystal Lupal, and Brad Young. In the film, a "sign" arrives that will bring together a chosen group of people at a time of great change.

Intern Karen Tells All

Karen the Intern (second from right) shares behind-the-scenes details about her month-long placement at The Shooting Eye.
The Shooting Eye Final Journal, March 2011: I was first introduced to the folks at The Shooting Eye a few months back during Senior Star. I spent the day helping shoot interviews, and discussing movie trivia in between takes. I was welcomed back to work with them as a Production Assistant on The Being Frank Show... and what an experience! For my first job in the industry, I couldn’t have asked to work with a better crew!
